About File Studio

Last updated: 2026-10-25

File Studio is an independent suite of privacy-first file utilities — merging and compressing PDFs, resizing exam photos, converting iPhone HEIC photos, trimming audio, and editing video — that run directly inside your web browser instead of on a remote server. It was created and is actively maintained by Aravindh, an engineer based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and has been serving users worldwide at filestudio.in since 2024.

Our Engineering Mission: Zero Server Uploads

Most files people need to fix in a hurry are intensely personal: an Aadhaar or PAN scan for an exam form, bank statements for loan applications, signed offer letters, medical records, and passport photos. The conventional way to convert or compress them is uploading them to unknown cloud servers where files are stored, logged, and processed on remote hardware.

File Studio was built on a different engineering principle: modern web browsers can decode and process PDFs, images, audio, and video at native speed using WebAssembly, the Web Audio API, and WebCodecs. By bringing the computation to your device's processor rather than sending your data to our servers, we guarantee absolute confidentiality.

What runs locally, and the few exceptions

How it is funded

Every tool is free to use without requiring an account, email address, or paid subscription. The project is funded through transparent display advertising (Google AdSense) and voluntary community contributions via Buy Me a Coffee. There are no artificial paywalls or watermarks on output files.

Editorial Standards & Practical Guides

Alongside our interactive utilities, our engineering team publishes in-depth technical guides addressing real-world document, photo, and audio challenges. Every guide is written from direct testing on real files, referencing official government notices, exam board specifications, and audio/video standards. Read more on How we build and test.
