About Delete Pages
Delete Pages lets you mark pages on a thumbnail grid and saves a new PDF without them. The pages you keep are copied unchanged, so nothing is re-compressed and their order stays the same.
How to use Delete Pages
- Drop in a PDF to see a thumbnail of every page.
- Click each page you want to remove. Marked pages are labelled ✕ Delete; click again to unmark.
- Use Select All followed by unmarking a few pages when you want to keep only a handful, or Clear to start over.
- Click Delete N Pages & Save to Workspace. You can't delete every page; at least one must remain.
- Click Download PDF. The file is named after the original with _edited added.
When it helps
Removing blank backs from duplex scans
Scanning single-sided paper in duplex mode leaves a blank page after every real one. Marking them on the thumbnail grid is quicker than rescanning.
Sending only what was asked for
When an office needs your statement without the pages showing other accounts, delete those pages before sharing rather than sending the whole file.
Getting under a size limit
Instruction pages, terms and conditions and duplicate copies add size to scanned uploads. Dropping them is often enough to pass a portal's limit without lowering image quality.
Tips
- If you need to keep only 3 pages out of 40, Select All and then unmark the 3 pages; that is fewer clicks than marking 37.
- Check the remaining-page count before saving; it is the easiest way to spot a page you clicked by accident.
- To pull a few pages into a new file while also changing their order, Split's Extract mode does both in one step.
- The original file is not modified. If you remove the wrong page, open the original again from the workspace and repeat, rather than trying to recover the page from the edited copy.
- Removing pages usually makes the file smaller, but not always proportionally: fonts and images shared across pages stay in the file as long as any kept page uses them.
Limitations
- Deleting a page removes the whole page; it can't remove part of a page. To hide a name or number on a page you keep, use Redact.
- Bookmarks, the outline and form-field structure of the original aren't carried into the new file.
- Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first, or the output may be blank or unreadable.
- Thumbnails for very long or heavy scans can take time to appear on phones.
What happens to your files
The page thumbnails are rendered and the new PDF is built entirely in your browser; the document is not uploaded. Both the original and the edited copy are kept in the File Studio workspace in IndexedDB on this device, so deleted pages still exist in the original there until you remove that file.

Select and Remove Unwanted Pages Instantly
File Studio displays thumbnail previews of every page in your PDF. Click each page you want to remove — unwanted cover pages, blank pages, duplicate scans, or pages containing private information. The remaining pages are assembled into a clean PDF that you can download as soon as it is saved. This is faster and more intuitive than re-scanning an entire document or using complex desktop software.
Preview Every Page Before Deletion
Visual confirmation prevents mistakes. File Studio renders clear thumbnails for every page so you can identify exactly which pages to remove before making any changes. Unlike command-line tools where you must guess page numbers, our visual interface eliminates errors and ensures you keep only the pages you need.
100% Private — Processing Happens on Your Device
Deleting pages from sensitive documents — medical records, financial statements, legal filings — requires absolute data privacy. File Studio performs all page removal locally in your browser. Your document is never uploaded to any server, and the modified PDF is generated entirely on your device. This local-first approach meets the privacy requirements of healthcare, legal, and financial professionals.
