Pages per Sheet & PDF to Booklet

Put 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 PDF pages on one A4 sheet, or turn a PDF into a fold-and-staple booklet in the right print order. Text stays sharp. Free, no upload.

Print 2, 4 or More PDF Pages on One Sheet

Printing class notes, slides or reference material one page per sheet wastes paper. Pick 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16 pages per sheet and File Studio lays the pages out in a grid on A4 or Letter paper. Auto orientation chooses whichever way prints the pages larger: two portrait A4 pages go side by side on a landscape sheet, four go in a 2 × 2 grid on a portrait sheet. You can set the order (across then down, or down then across), the outer margin, the gap between pages and an optional thin border around each page. A 10-page PDF becomes 5 sheets at 2 per sheet, or 3 sheets at 4 per sheet.

Make a Booklet from Any PDF

A saddle-stitched booklet is a stack of sheets folded in the middle and stapled on the fold. Each sheet carries four pages, so the page count is padded with blank pages at the end to a multiple of 4. The pages are then arranged in booklet order: for a 12-page booklet the first sheet has pages 12 and 1 on the front and 2 and 11 on the back, the second has 10 and 3, then 4 and 9, and the third has 8 and 5, then 6 and 7. The preview shows the front and back of every sheet before you download.

How to Print the Booklet

Print the booklet PDF double-sided with "flip on short edge" (sometimes called short-edge binding) and at actual size or 100%, not "fit to page". Keep the printed sheets in order, fold the whole stack in half and staple along the fold. If your printer can't print double-sided, print the odd pages, turn the stack over and put it back in the tray, then print the even pages; test with the first two pages before printing the whole booklet.

Sharp Text, Mixed Page Sizes, No Upload

Pages are placed as vector content rather than turned into pictures, so text stays crisp and selectable even at 4 or 9 per sheet. Each page is scaled to fit its own spot while keeping its proportions, so PDFs with mixed page sizes or rotated pages come out right. Everything runs in your browser; the PDF never leaves your phone or computer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I put 2 pages of a PDF on one A4 sheet?
Upload the PDF, keep Pages per sheet on 2 and tap the button. Two portrait pages are placed side by side on a landscape A4 sheet, each scaled down to fit without stretching. Download the new PDF and print it at actual size.
How do I print 4 pages in 1 page of a PDF?
Choose 4 under Pages per sheet. Pages go in a 2 × 2 grid, across then down (or down then across if you pick that order). The preview shows exactly which page lands where before you download.
How do I make a booklet from a PDF?
Choose Booklet. The tool adds blank pages at the end until the count is a multiple of 4, then arranges the pages in booklet order (for 12 pages: 12 and 1 on the front of the first sheet, 2 and 11 on the back, and so on), two to a landscape sheet. Print double-sided with flip on short edge, fold the stack in the middle and staple on the fold.
Will the text still be sharp and selectable?
Yes. Pages are placed as vector content, not turned into images, so text stays crisp at any zoom and can still be selected and searched. Links and form fields from the original are not carried over.
What if my PDF has pages of different sizes or rotated pages?
Each page is scaled to fit its own spot on the sheet, keeping its proportions, and rotated pages are placed the way they appear on screen.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. File Studio is built on a strict local-first architecture. Every PDF operation — merging, splitting, compressing, redacting — runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your computer. You can even disconnect your internet after the page loads and the tools will continue working perfectly.
Is File Studio completely free?
Yes, 100% free with no limits. There are no file size caps, no daily limits, no watermarks added to your output, and no account or email required. All tools are free forever.
Does it work on mobile and tablet?
Yes. File Studio is fully responsive and works on Android and iOS browsers. All processing happens locally on your phone's or tablet's hardware.
