About Merge PDF

Merge takes two or more PDFs and copies their pages, in the order you set, into one new file called merged.pdf. Before merging you can also drop individual pages or change the page order inside any one file, so a single pass often replaces a separate delete or reorder step. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and scans are not re-compressed.

How to use Merge PDF

  1. Drop your PDFs onto the upload area or click it to pick files. Only files the browser reports as PDF are accepted; images and Word files are skipped silently.
  2. Check the file list: each card shows the page count and size. Drag the cards up or down until the files are in the order they should appear.
  3. To work inside one file, click View Pages on its card (on a larger screen). Drag page thumbnails to change their order or remove pages you don't want; the last remaining page can't be removed.
  4. Use Add Another PDF if you forgot a file. The merge needs at least two PDFs in the list.
  5. Click Merge PDFs & Download. A progress bar shows each file being processed, and merged.pdf downloads automatically when it is done.

When it helps

One file for an application portal

Many application forms accept a single upload for 'supporting documents'. Put the marksheets, certificates and ID scans in the order the instructions list them, then merge. If the result is over the size limit, run it through Compress afterwards rather than compressing each piece first.

Assembling a report from separate exports

A cover page from one program, the main body from Word and appendices exported from a spreadsheet can be joined without reopening any of them. Page sizes are kept as they were, so a landscape appendix stays landscape.

Trimming while you combine

When one scan has a blank back side or a duplicated page, open that file with View Pages and remove the extra page during the merge instead of fixing the source file first.

What happens to your files

Your PDFs are read with the browser's file API and merged by JavaScript running in the page; no file bytes are sent to a server. Each PDF you add is also saved to the File Studio workspace, which lives in your browser's IndexedDB storage on this device, and merged.pdf is added there too if your workspace setting keeps tool outputs. Those copies stay until you remove them from the workspace or clear site data, so clear them on a shared computer.

How to Merge PDF Files in 3 Easy Steps

Merging PDF files with File Studio takes three steps. First, drag and drop your PDF files into the upload area — add as many as you need, at least two. Second, rearrange the file order by dragging cards up or down. On a larger screen, click View Pages on a card to reorder or remove individual pages within that document. Third, hit the Merge PDFs & Download button. Your combined PDF is assembled inside your browser and downloads automatically when it is ready. No account creation, no email verification, and no waiting in a processing queue.

Merged Locally — No Cloud Uploads

Many online PDF services work by uploading your documents to their servers, processing them there and deleting them later under their own policies. File Studio takes a different approach: every merge operation runs locally using JavaScript in your browser tab. Your files are not sent to a server, not even temporarily. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's Network tab and watching for outbound requests. You will see zero file uploads. For anyone handling contracts, medical records, Aadhaar cards, or financial statements, this local-first architecture is not just convenient — it is essential.

Merge PDFs on Mobile Without an App

File Studio's merge tool is fully responsive and works on Android and iPhone browsers without installing any application. Open Chrome or Safari, navigate to File Studio, and tap to select your PDF files. You can reorder and remove files on the phone too, though per-page editing is easier on a larger screen. Because processing happens on your device's hardware, speed depends on your phone and the size of the files; very large scans are better merged on a computer. This is especially useful for students combining assignment pages, professionals merging scanned receipts, or anyone who needs to send a single document via WhatsApp or email.

No Usage Caps, No Watermarks, No Hidden Fees

File Studio does not count how many merges you run or add watermarks to output files. There is no fixed file-count or file-size cap; the practical limit is your device's memory, since every file is held in the browser while it is merged. The output PDF is clean — no branding, no watermarks, no metadata pointing back to our tool. This makes File Studio ideal for professional and legal use where clean output documents are required.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge PDF files online for free?
Upload your PDF files to File Studio, drag to reorder if needed, then click Merge. Your combined PDF downloads instantly. No account, no email, no upload to any server — everything runs in your browser.
Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?
There is no fixed file-count limit. The practical limit is your device's memory, because every file is held in the browser while it is merged; very large scans may need to be merged in smaller batches, especially on phones.
